Safety reminders
- Cut round foods (grapes, cherry tomatoes, blueberries) into quarters for children under 4.
- Keep toddlers seated while eating.
- Serve nut butters thinly spread, never as whole nuts.
- Offer smoothies with food, not in place of meals, milk or water, and in an open or straw cup, never a bottle.
- From 12–24 months, plain whole milk is recommended, about 16–24 oz (2–3 cups) a day in total; the milk and yogurt in this smoothie count toward it. From 2 years, switch to low-fat (1%) or fat-free milk, about 16–20 oz a day.
- This recipe is general guidance for healthy, full-term babies and children. Ask your pediatrician first if your child was born early, has a medical condition, allergies or feeding difficulties (medical disclaimer).
