Method

  1. 1

Whisk the egg, applesauce and milk, then stir in the infant cereal and cinnamon. The batter should be thick but pourable; add a little more milk if needed.

  2. 2

Heat the oil in a non-stick pan over low-medium heat. Add 2 tbsp of batter per pancake.

  3. 3

Cook 2 minutes, until the edges set, then flip.

  4. 4

Cook 2 minutes more, until the center springs back and no wet batter or liquid egg remains.

  5. 5

Cool to lukewarm and check the temperature before serving.

health_and_safetyAllergens

Contains egg (top 9 allergen). Infant oat cereal may contain wheat. Serving with yogurt adds milk. Offer this after egg has been introduced on its own. For a first exposure, offer a small amount early in the day and watch for 2 hours. If your baby has severe eczema or a known food allergy, talk to your pediatrician before the first taste.

sync_altSwaps

  • swap_horizUse pear purée or pumpkin purée instead of applesauce.
  • swap_horizUse infant multigrain cereal (contains wheat) once your baby has had wheat.

kitchenStorage

Fridge 3 days. Freeze in a single layer, then bag, up to 2 months. Reheat until hot through, then cool before serving. If you plan to freeze, make the batter with formula or fresh breast milk that has never been frozen.

Safety reminders

  • No added salt, sugar or honey before 12 months.
  • Always check texture: food should squash between your thumb and finger.
  • Stay with your baby and keep them seated upright while eating.
